Archaeological Site
The Archaeopark of Chotěbuz-Podobora is one of the branches of the Muzeum Těšínska (Museum of Těšín Region), whose founder is the Moravian-Silesian Region. The locality is not only a reconstruction of an 8th century Slavic hillfort but above all a significant archaeological site. Until 1978, only sporadic excavations have been conducted at this site. Since then, archaeologists led by Pavel Kouřil from the Institute of Archaeology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Brno have returned to the hillfort every year. Chotěbuz-Podobora counts among the best explored early medieval hillforts in the Czech Republic and one of the most significant archaeological sites in the region.
